Job Title: Ruby on Rails Developer

Job Location:  Sacramento, CA

Duration: 12+ Months

 

Skills Required: 

Ruby on Rails developer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining both private (internal) and public (external) facing Rails-based web sites

Qualifications/Skills:

·         Extensive experience developing Ruby and Rails applications.

·         Must have proven experience developing complex software applications and scalable enterprise systems in Ruby and Rails.

·         Ability to develop from functional requirements, use cases and architecture models created using UML and related technologies.

·         Extensive knowledge of object-oriented development methodologies a must.

·         Strong automated development unit testing background.

·         Test Driven Development experience preferred.

·         Strong relational database background using Oracle 10g RDBMS.

 

Other Skills/Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:

·         Develop Ruby on Rails web applications for Client’s Application Solutions customers, including system monitoring and system administration utilities for network administration of the applications.

·         Debug, test, and install complex Rails based customer applications.

·         Create test procedures and test platforms to support the development of Client’s Application Solutions supplied Rails applications.

·         Have strong working knowledge of modern software development techniques and methodologies.

 

Required Education Level:

BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or a minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience developing and maintaining enterprise level web-based applications

Position Description

• Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for the most complex technical support and operating systems or subsystems initiatives. Leads, conducts, and coordinates the analysis, planning, and implementation of systems software and/or hardware.

One of my clients in Minneapolis, MN is looking for a Stellent Consultant for a 3+ month project. This candidate should have a wide breadth of Stellent/UCM support skills along with technical skills to bridge the support and project gaps between infrastructure, IT application development staffs and corporate IT support teams.

Responsibilities:

· Provide Level 2 Application Hosting & Production Control to

current Stellent/UCM environment based in Geneva

· Provide logistical operations including Oracle Instance

support, release management (test/prod/dr), Stellent/UCM Console support, access rights to current workflows, as well as monitor/coordinate with the IT team (ITSB) for the application components (servers, database, etc)

· Provide software maintenance including manage license &

support entitlements on behalf of business units, coordinate with purchasing group, provide recommendations pertaining to software maintenance, upgrades, enhancements (by partnering with ITSB, Oracle and Oracle partners)

· Provide hardware maintenance including coordinating with ITSB

and providing recommendations pertaining to hardware upgrades, enhancements, etc (be partnering with ITSB, Oracle and Oracle partners)

· Provide 24 hr Access via pager rotation

· Provide Level 2 Application Customization maintenance to current Stellent/UCM environment

· Provide ongoing support and maintenance of existing

customizations by resolving errors or flaws in the original logic or functionality of the customizations and make necessary modifications to accommodate minor changes in business processes

· Evaluate, propose and recommend technology solution alternatives

· Troubleshoot complex issues and choose best solutions and courses of action

· Research problems & solutions independently using multiple subject matter experts

· Make independent decisions regarding on-the-spot operational and application corrections, workloads and operations within

standardized practices and procedures

· Make recommendations regarding procedures, project scope, deadlines, budgets and new technology initiatives

· Work as an IT liaison with various vendors and internal support teams

· Identify requirements, manage project scope and coordinate for justifiable solutions

· Stay current on industry trends and developments

Skills:

· 5+ years professional experience in supporting complex Stellent/UCM environments

· 5+ years professional experience in supporting complex global enterprise applications

· 5+ years professional experience in enterprise application installations, upgrades, system copies/client refreshes, performance tuning, security setup, application patching, backup and restore functions

· Knowledge of network infrastructure technologies

· Knowledge of multiple operating systems, such as UNIX/Linux &

Microsoft Server OS's

· Willingness and ability to provide off hours support and

participate in on call rotation for 24x7x365 coverage

· Ability to apply multiple technologies to business problems

(enterprise design)

· Ability and past experience producing technical documentation

Preferred:

· Experience with any of the following applications: Hyperion

Financials, TRIM, Oracle Web Content Management, Hivedome ITAS, Microsoft IIS, IBM WebSphere, CA Unicenter Autosys job scheduler, and
